This 3 days Mgahinga Gorilla National Park Safari is an interesting Uganda adventure gorilla trekking safari that takes you to Mgahinga gorilla national park which is located in southwestern park of Uganda.

The Mgahinga Gorilla national park is a home to the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Apart from mountain gorillas, the park also harbours different wildlife species such as mammals, primates like golden monkeys, l’hoest monkeys and variety of bird species. The park has one habituated gorilla family Nyakagezi which is available for trekking on a daily basis.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park

Depending on your location, you will be picked and welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Mgahinga gorilla national park.

On your way to the park, you will have en-route lunch and enjoy stunning views of the landscape, beautiful scenery, terraced farmlands and Kigezi hills. Upon arrival in the park, you will proceed to check in at the lodge for dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park and Batwa cultural Tour

On the 2nd day of your Safari, wake up early in the morning, you will be served with breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to drive you to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during trekking.

After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle with an experienced park ranger who is knowledgeable about the gorillas and also conversant with gorilla trekking trails. During gorilla trekking, you will be able to view other primate species such as l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, different bird species, plants among others.

Once the gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their environment which gives you a chance to learn about their behaviours, habits, watch them feed, breastfeed, groom young ones, take photos. After your gorilla trekking experience, meet your driver guide and return back to the lodge for lunch

After lunch, you will head out for a cultural tour to visit the Batwa Pygmies communities. You will learn more about their way of life, engage in their cultural dances and many more. Later return to the lodge for relaxation and stay overnight.

Day 3: Departure to Kampala

On the last day of your safari, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. 

On your way to Kampala, you will have en-route lunch in Mbarara and after continue the journey to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
