DETAILED ITINERARY FOR 11 DAYS COMBINED EAST AFRICA SAFARI.
Day 1, Arrival and have a city tour
Upon arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative who will brief you about your tour in Burundi.Dinner and overnight at Amahororo hotel.
Day 2, Visit the beaches around Lake De Tanganyika.
After breakfast at your Hotel in Bujumbura, you will set out to visit beaches Lake Tanganyika. These beaches are some of the best of any landlocked country in Africa and comparable with those in Malawi to the southeast. The sand is white and powdery, and the waves should keep the bilharzia at bay. The stretch of beach that lies about 5km northwest of the capital is the most beautiful and used to be known as Plage des Cocotiers (Coconut Beach). Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 3, Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
After Breakfast, you will cross over to Rwanda and drive for about 6 hours to Nyungwe forest national park en-route, you will pass through magnificent views of the beautiful hilly countryside where the country derives its name of The Land of a Thousand hills. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura guest house.
Day 4, Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest and transfer to ruhegeri
Set out before day light for a chimpanzee tracking experience in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Before the activity, you will first get the briefing from the Park rangers who will in details explain to you the rules for Chimpanzee trekking. When it comes to day light, you will already be in the forest also look out for the colobus monkeys, Varvet monkeys and so many other primates. You will later be transferred to Ruhegeri. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura hotel.
Day 5, Gorilla Tracking
After a fully served breakfast, you will report to the ORTPN offices for registration and briefing on the Gorilla tracking rules. After this, you will be allocated your Gorilla group and you will penetrate deep in the forest to search for these rare Mountain Gorillas. This experience is memorable and cannot be forgotten easily. You can take as many pictures as you want and then after this, return back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. This will offer you stunning panoramic views of the volcanic mountains. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 6, Transfer to Congo
After breakfast, you will transfer to the border of Rwanda and Congo, clear with the immigration offices and later transfer to Kibati park station. After a briefing with park rangers, start hiking the famous Nyiragongo volcano (climb takes about 4 to 5 hours). Hike through an impressive rain forest, the climb continues on the lava eruption fissure until 2002, reach the summit. This tour will give you a great opportunity to explore the giant crater of Nyiragongo above its violently red Lava Lake and learn more about Nyiragongo story. Overnight in shelter at the summit.
Chimpanzee Tours
Day 7, Descend to Goma and transfer to lake Buyonyi.(Uganda)
After breakfast, you will descend from the volcano summit to the bottom. Upon arrival, you will meet your driver guide who will transfer you to lake Buyonyi-uaganda through cyanika boarder dinner and overnight at buyonyi over land hotel.
Day 8, Boat ride on lake Buyonyi.
Have morning breakfast and take a boat ride on lake Buyonyi, you will visit different islands like “punishment island” this was named so because all girls who would get pregnant before married were taken there and abandon them to starve until they die. Later you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth national park. Dinner and overnight at kazinga channel camp.
Day 9, Morning game driver and boat cruise along kazinga channel.
After breakfast, you will go for morning game drive in the Ishasha sector where you will be able to see the rare tree climbing lions and also a lot of bird species. Afternoon have a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel for more game viewing especially large concentration of hippos and water laving birds. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 10, Transfer to jinja with the visit to source of river Nile.
After breakfast, you will travel to Jinja with lunch en route in Kampala city. Upon arrival in Jinja, you will visit the Source of River Nile which was discovered by John Hanning Speak. River Nile is the Longest River in Africa and flows from south to north toward the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt. Dinner and overnight at hotel triangle.
Day 11. White water rafting and transfer to airport for your flights back home.
After breakfast, you will go for the white water rafting trip along the River Nile. You will be provided with all the necessary equipments and training needed for the activity. All white water rafting activity is open to people aged 16 and above. After the raft, transfer back to Kampala where drop off will be at the Airport for your flight back home.
