Best Time To Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park : Queen Elizabeth national park is the second largest national park and it’s located along the equator in the western Uganda in districts of kasese, kamwenge, Rubirizi and Rukungiri. It’s one of the most visited national parks. The national park is a home to 95 mammal species and 600 bird species. The national park also comprises of open grasslands and savannah which are woody and moist in the west than in the south. Queen Elizabeth national park is open and can be visited any time of the year but game viewing is best in the dry seasons that is months of January, February and June to august.
LOW SEASONS; April, May, October and November
BEST WEATHER; months of June to July as well as January to February due to the less rain
WORST WEATHER; months of April, May and September to October with too much rains hence making roads slippery and activities interfered
The best time to visit queen Elizabeth national park is in January to February and June to July because these are considered to be dry seasons.
The months of June to September are high seasons because that’s when tourists come in big numbers and hence travelling to the national park because it’s the best time to do gorilla trekking as well as chimpanzees within the national park plus the other primates within kyambura gorge and Bwindi national park as well as other national parks and other sites.
The months of April, may, October and November the national park experiences a low turn up of tourists and thus no congestion within the park and the lodges are cheaper.
The months of June to July and January to September this is when the rain is less, the savannah grass plains are green and ponds full of water for elephants to shower, buffaloes to lie around and other animals to drink.
Chimpanzee tracking becomes amazing and fun because the trails are dry and kyambura gorge becomes clearer.
Wildlife viewing becomes more easier because of the short grass and animals tend to gather near the water sources to quench their thirst. Others come out of their hideouts to get some coolness
During the months of April, May and September to October tourists are warned about the period because it’s characterized with heavy rainfall and thus causing the murram roads un passable and slippery.
Although the dry season tends to be the best time to visit queen Elizabeth national park, the wet season is amazing because of the eye-catching views.
During the wet season, tourists are able to spot wildlife such as hippos, buffaloes, elephants and many more within the park.
The environment is all green and eye catching which makes the scenery viewing soothing and calming the minds.
Within the wet season, tourists tend to see a lot of migratory birds that come to the national park within that period. This makes the birding activity amazing.
However, all activities can be done in the wet season at queen Elizabeth national park but tourists should keep in mind that the roads are murram and thus become slippery during the season. Evenings thunderstorms are expected as well as a prolonged drizzle which makes it a bad weather for Uganda safari activities.
However, Queen Elizabeth national park is blessed with wildlife as well as flora and fauna which makes the safari amazing and a memorable experience to the tourists. The national park is always pen and waiting all throughout the year.
